The requirement of constantly higher read and write rates of SSDs led to the necessity of caching data submitted by the outer SATA II interface in DRAM buffers at first. With such kind of architecture, a sudden voltage breakdown can lead to a loss of the data that are not yet stored in the NAND flash.
The current SSD versions of the series InnoRobust II SATA, InnoDisk SATA 25000 and EverGreen Plus of InnoDisk provide an answer to that problem. These new, very fast flash memories are equipped with the iCell technology, that prevents write and read errors caused by breakdown or fluctuation of the system supply.

iCell is based on high-capacity capacitors that supply enough energy even in the case of an abrupt voltage breakdown so that all data can become safely written out of the DRAM buffers into the NAND flash. In contrast to accumulators and batteries, these capacitors are virtually maintenance-free, so the iCell technology provides an especially reliable protection against data loss. Despite the integration of additional components, the external dimensions of the new 2.5" iCell SSDs of InnoDisk don`t differ from the dimensions of already known SSDs of this type.
With a memory depth of up to 256 GB (SLC NAND Flash) and data rates of up to 250 MB/s (read) resp. 200 MB/s (write), the SATA 25000 is one of the fastest 2.5" SATA II standard SSDs that are currently available. With special functions (fast erase, security erase), the InnoRobust II SATA (SLC NAND flash) primarily addresses the safety-critical market. With the inexpensive EverGreen Plus (MLC NAND flash), the user has an interesting alternative to the common mechanical harddisks on hand. The new L² Wear Levelling lends particularly good characteristic values to the aforementioned products in regards of their durability and reliability.
The data sheets of the new InnoDisk products are available for download in the below attached box. There you will also find a white paper of InnoDisk which describes the function of the iCell technology. For all questions concerning these or other products of InnoDisk our flash memory specialists will be happy to support you. We are looking forward to your inquiry.
